How does Acomplia work
The action of Acomplia works by blocking the CB1 receptor, one of two receptors found in a newly described physiological system called the Endocannabinoid System. This Endocannabinoid System is known to play a critical role in the regulation of food intake and energy expenditure of our body. Scientists from around the world have long held this belief but coming up with a method for controlling it has not been an easy.
Findings during research have indicated that these receptors are present on the surfaces of cells throughout the body including fat cells and those in the brain region that is thought to determine our appetite. Chemical compounds produced by our body known as cannabinoid, attach to the CB1 receptors, which in overweight and obese individuals are over active, sending out a signal that prompts people to eat more and put on weight.
By taking the medication Acomplia will stop the action of cannabinoid receptors and in the process curb the appetite. Using genetically altered mice that lacked cannabinoid receptors it was found that they ate less than their counter parts even after 18 hours of fasting. By administrating rimonabant to normal mice helped in reducing their food intake. These initial tests are conclusive to Sanofi-Aventis and the solution seems that by administering Rimonabant the craving disappears. Imagine what would happen if you could take a pill that completely control your cravings for food and tobacco.
Acomplia does not work in the same way as other diet pills since it works by selectively targeting and blocking the CB1 receptors. This helps in control the over-activation of the EC system and makes hunger or cigarette craving more manageable for its users.
Acomplia, by blocking the CBI receptors, helps in controlling food cravings gradually and results in weight loss, the improvement of cardiovascular/ metabolic risk factors in overweight/obese patients and appears to reduce tobacco dependence without post cessation weight gain in people who have stopped smoking.
The way Acomplia works is by blocking receptors of a substance called cannabinoid 1; this stimulates hunger and other cravings in the brain and is also present in fat tissue. The company believes that the drug makes use of the body’s natural targeting system in order to work.
